Celebrate our nation's birthday at the home of Declaration of Independence signer William Paca! The day begins as fifty immigrants become American citizens in a moving Naturalization Ceremony. Visitors will enjoy tours of the Pacas’ home, live musical performances, and a Revolutionary War encampment. Costumed interpreters portraying William Paca and members of his household will bring the past alive. Children's activities include patriotic crafts and the opportunity to add their John Hancock on the Declaration of Independence with a quill pen.

Come join the fun! The Annapolis 2010 July 4th Celebration will continue our wildly popular old fashioned community parade. This patriotic Annapolis salute to our nation is always a
crowd pleaser, with thousands of viewers lining the route. The parade proceeds through the City's downtown area, beginning on Amos Garrett Blvd, then right on West Street, around Church Circle, down Main Street, left on Randall Street, and disbands in front of the Market House. Then stay for the 8:00 p.m. performance by the United States Naval Academy Band at Susan C. Campbell Park at City Dock while waiting for the fireworks display launched from a barge in the Annapolis Harbor beginning at approximately 9:15 p.m.

Join the fun on the first Sunday of each month when crafts vendors, artists, musical acts and street performers gather to celebrate the arts. New this year, open swing dance lessons and jitterbugging opportunities. Beginner lessons start at 1:30 p.m.; live music featuring the Annapolis Junction Big Band and dancing follow at 2:00. Other entertainment includes the Juliet Lloyd Duo at noon.

Grab a dockside seat for midweek sailboat races in the Annapolis Harbor every Wednesday night. Some 150 yachts race around several marks in the Bay then back into Spa Creek for the finish in front of the Annapolis Yacht Club. For many, the post-race party is the official beginning of the weekend.

Navy Way Boot Camp

Kids become swabbies at Navy Way Boot Camp held on The Yard at the USNA. Recruits age 6-12 are issued a sailor's cap, learn Navy terms, march, chant, follow orders and eat in a simulated mess. Cost includes "dixie cup" cap, boot camp, lunch and certificate of participation. Advanced Boot Camp is for graduates of Basic who are between the ages of nine and 12. Swabbies take seamanship training, learn how to use semphore flags and march in precision drill.
